The Hospice Music Therapist is a clinician who provides music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship.
My commitment will include:
Using music to achieve therapeutic goals, including but not limited to motor skills, social/interpersonal development, comfort, self-awareness, and spiritual enhancement.
Educating and promoting music therapy within hospice.
Communicating regularly with the interdisciplinary team, completing necessary documentation and consulting the supervisor or Registered Nurse when appropriate.
Participating in the implementation of and development of the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care to ensure quality and continuity of care.
Providing necessary skills to appropriately report changes and document pertinent information and care rendered to the patient to ensure continuity of care.
Education: Degree in Music Therapy from a program approved by the American Music Therapy Association.
Licensure: Current MT-BC certification required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Experience: Preferred one (1) year experience in an approved AMTA site. Hospice care experience desirable.
Skills: Requires interpersonal skills, supervisory & communication skills. Must be proficient at performing with at least one instrument.
Transportation: Reliable transportation.
