The Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for selecting and recording the correct and appropriate ICD-9-CM codes to the OASIS data set items (MO190, MO210. MO230/240, and MO245). This position establishes and maintains effective and efficient systems for the current ICD-9-CM coding guidelines.


My commitment will include:

  • Performing review of all patients OASIS data to assure accurate and completion of information
  • Assisting with the development of tools to perform consistent quality monitoring of patient care including, but not limited to, OCS reports, deficiency reports, and clinical record review forms, and billing audit.
  • Reviewing re-certifications, post-hospitalizations and discharge OASIS information.
  • Performing random and quarterly chart audits.
  • Assisting with tracking to ensure billing timely and meets prospective payment and other regulatory guidelines, especially related to physician’s orders
  • Participating in performance improvement activities and teams as assigned by the QA Supervisor or Director.
  • Verifying the plan of care for the episode according to physician’s orders, assessment data, and established standards and guidelines.



  • Education: Associate Degree preferred.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in a health care setting.
  • Skills: Requires interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and referral sources. Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9 coding required, Medicare and Medicaid guidelines preferred. Able to demonstrate problem-solving skills, organizational skills and attention to detail. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to operate computer equipment, fax and photocopy machines as necessary.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation.
